Sunday Self-Care

Mindset

Sunday’s are my favorite day for self-care! While I try to do small acts of self-care everyday, Sunday’s are my days I am a little more intentional with it. I like to do self-care on Sunday because I hate going into the week already feeling stressed or scattered. Practicing some self-care helps me relax and clear my head.

On a typical Sunday, I try to get all my chores done as soon as possible. This includes laundry, cleaning, getting the kids things ready for the week, grocery shopping and whatever else needs to be done. I like to have all these things done before I cook dinner so by the time we eat, the rest of the night is for relaxation.

Once dinner is finished and the kids have had baths, it’s my time! My husband is always really great about watching the kids and getting them into bed on Sunday nights. My favorite things to do on Sunday nights are:

  • clay face mask
  • detox bath
  • oil treatment
  • read

It’s not an outrageous list of self-care but it helps me relax so much! Sunday nights I also try to stay off my phone and keep my eyes off a screen (although this doesn’t always happen!). I’ll give a little more detail on all the self-care I do.

Clay Face Mask

This is one of my absolute favorite masks and I have been doing it for probably about ten years now. It’s just equal pats of bentonite clay and apple cider vinegar. All you have to do is mix and apply to the face. This mask will feel like it’s sucking out all the crap in your pores! I typically leave it on for about ten to fifteen minutes. It gets so tight on my face that sometimes I have to wash it off before it’s completely dry. Also, if you are going to try this mask, do not use anything metal when mixing it. Use plastic or glass. The metal will react with the clay and reduce its effectiveness.

This face mask is slightly drying. My skin is slightly oily so it’s not an issue for it, but if my face is feeling dry already, I will skip it that week. If I feel like I need to skip it, I’ll choose a different mask to do or just do an oil treatment on my face!

Detox Bath

Taking baths is something that I love to do! They are so relaxing! I always take a bath on Sunday’s. If I don’t have much time on Sunday’s, I still make time to take a bath. Sometimes I take multiple baths a week but on Sunday I take a detox bath. In my detox bath I sprinkle in baking soda, epsom salts, and lavender essential oil. Sometimes if my muscles are really hurting, I will use magnesium flakes, but I don’t always have those on hand. Also, sometimes I will add bentonite clay to my bath to draw out toxins. After my baths, I like to slather on my body oil (see my post here!) and put a layer of lotion on top for some extra moisture!

Oil Treatment

Since I typically wash my hair on Monday mornings, I like to do an oil treatment on my scalp and hair on Sunday nights. I use my favorite hair oil, Rejuveniqe Oil! All I do is run the dropper through my hair while releasing the oil onto my scalp. Once it’s on my scalp I rub it in and do a little scalp massage. Then I put some oil in my hand and run it through the rest of my hair. I’ll throw it up in a bun and wash it out in the morning!

Read

This one is pretty self explanatory! I really like to read so I make some time to read on Sunday’s. Typically I’ll read in the bath tub, which also helps keep me off my phone, and normally I’ll get into bed and read up until I go to sleep. I like to read a variety of books like self-care, financial, or fantasy! I find a lot of great books on Pinterest!

And there you have it! The things I love to do on Sunday nights for self-care! I know this post was just a short one but I hope it inspires you to set aside some time for yourself this Sunday to do some much needed self-care!
