The Best Turmeric Latte

A couple months ago I was having the hardest time falling and staying asleep. This triggered me to research different ways to help with my sleep issues. If you would like to read more about sleep, check out my post here and here! I kept running into turmeric. There were recipes for shots, lattes, and other ways to consume it. I decided to try making turmeric shots and it was so gross! I could barely even stomach it. So then I decided to try the latte.

The latte was such a better idea. For one, drinking something warm before bed makes way more sense than taking a shot! Also, this latte was very calming and fit in well with my evening routine. It still doesn’t taste as good as I wish it did, but it does help me sleep. Honestly, I now love drinking this latte in the evening!

Turmeric Info

Turmeric is known for it’s anti inflammatory properties. These effects are more potent if you are consuming it in raw form instead of powder form, but I consume it in powder form because it still helps with sleep. Turmeric is known to help produce serotonin, which produces melatonin, which helps you sleep. Not only that, but this also means that turmeric can help aid in depression and anxiety!

For this latte, you will need:

  • 1/2 cup of milk (whole milk, almond milk, oat milk, doesn’t matter)
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • cinnamon
  • 1/2 tbsp maple syrup or honey
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

How to Make a Turmeric Latte

  • Heat milk until it barely boils
  • Add into milk:
    • Turmeric powder
    • However cinnamon you desire
    • Maple syrup or honey
    • Vanilla extract
  • Froth together
  • Enjoy!

Things to Note

  • This isn’t the best tasting drink and it isn’t the worst, you just have to get use to it
  • Turmeric will stain your counter tops so if you spill, wipe it up
  • Typically, I’ll use almond milk
  • I typically use honey, but it tastes pretty much the same with maple syrup
  • I drink this about 20-30 mins before going to bed
  • This is the frother I use

If you are having trouble sleeping I would highly recommend trying this latte! If you decide to give it a try, tell me what you think in the comments! Don’t forget to save this to Pinterest for later reference!
