The dreaded chore of laundry! I’m not sure if anyone really loves to do laundry, but it is a chore that must be done!
As much as I hate doing laundry, I like having clean clothes. And I mean more than just the spaghetti sauce coming out of my sons shirts clean! I mean non-toxic clean! Laundry detergents and dryer sheets typically have a lot of toxic chemicals in them. Then those chemicals get into your clothes and then your clothes sit on your skin where the chemicals can transfer.
When Lotus was younger, we had some issues with laundry detergent messing with her skin. She would get little bumps and a slight rash. I had to switch to laundry detergent that was fragrance free. Ever since then, I have been really careful about the laundry detergent that we use.
For a long time I used ALL, but then I started switching to other brands that were non-toxic. I tried our local Kroger brand, Simple Truth Organic, and I just wasn’t impressed. I had purchased a lavender scent and scent just didn’t jive with me. I also felt for the price, I could just do better!
Then I decided to go super basic and just wash my clothes with baking soda. Yep! You can wash your clothes with just baking soda. But once again my clothes never had that clean smell. So, my search continued!
I finally found a product that I am totally in love with! The best thing is that my clothes smell amazing, and there are only five ingredients in the detergent. The laundry detergent that I went with is Molly’s Suds! This stuff smells so good! I chose the peppermint one but I do believe that they have a few other scents! It is not outrageously expensive and it gets the job done!
All ingredients are totally non-toxic and this product scores an A on the EWG guide. I have been using it for a little over a month now and I’m hooked!
One other aspect of laundry that can be overwhelmingly toxic, are dryer sheets. Dryer sheets may make your clothes soft and static free, but the toxic chemicals definitely out-weight the benefits. When I purchased Molly’s Suds, I also purchased the dryer balls! I will say that my clothes have a little more static than normal but overall I don’t see much of a difference. For a little extra boost, I put a couple drops of essential oils on my dryer balls. I put lavender on one and lemon on the other!

I haven’t heard of Molly Suds. I will have to check it out. I have been using Meliora. I like it and I also use dryer balls. I am unhappy with the static. If you come up with a solution for that, please update and let us know!
If I figure anything out for the static I will let you know!! I’ve never heard of Meliora, I’ll have to check it out!
