Non-Toxic Product Swaps

Lifestyle

In 2019 I started my non-toxic journey and it was a goal of mine to swap out all of my beauty and personal care items before the year was up. I have made some incredible progress with my non-toxic journey and I am pretty darn proud of how far I have come!

I know first hand just how overwhelming it can seems to swap all products for non-toxic ones. Almost every product in my bathroom had toxic chemicals in it. It drove me crazy that so many products had to be swapped out and how a lot of big brands didn’t even care about what chemicals they were putting into their products.

Once I started doing research on products I wanted to swap, it did get a little bit easier. The same terrible chemicals came up over and over again and eventually I knew what to look for and what to avoid. I also found a lot of amazing resources and a lot of companies committed to providing toxic free products! I have so many different products that I hope to try in 2020!

While I have a lot of products I want to try, I already have a pretty good collection of non-toxic personal care items! Here is a list of items I recently swapped out this year!

  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Body wash
  • Bath items – bubble bath, epsom salts, bath bombs
  • Lotion
  • Deodorant
  • Skincare – serums, oils, washes, toners, masks, etc.
  • Kids shampoo
  • Kids Conditioner
  • Kids body wash
  • Candles/ Air fresheners
  • Toothpaste
  • Makeup – mascara & eyeliner (pretty much all I wear)
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug Spray
  • Cleaning products

These items add up to so much! When you think about it, a lot of these products are being used daily. That means those toxic chemicals are being absorbed into your skin every day! By swapping out these products for non-toxic alternatives, you are removing so many chemicals that you come into contact with daily!

There are a few other items that I can look into when it comes to personal care items, but the things that I use daily are all swapped out! I can really tell that my skin feels better and if definitely looks better! I can also tell that my skin has detoxed from chemicals because when I come into contact with toxic chemicals, my skin gets incredibly itchy and irritated. I have noticed also that my eyes get irritated when I come into contact with chemicals

I am so incredibly proud of the progress that I have made this year with swapping out toxic items! I’m excited to try some new products in 2020 and show how there are so many different options out there for non-toxic products!
