Things To Do In Denver: Elitch Gardens

Adventures

While we love to get out and go to the mountains, its not always possible. We had big plans to go up to Steamboat Springs and camp for the weekend. Unfortunately, Justin came down with a nasty stomach bug so we had to adjust our plans!

Saturday we just relaxed and rested. The kids made sure to destroy ever part of the house I attempted to clean!! By Sunday morning, we were feeling a little stir crazy and like we needed to get out of the house!

We decided to take the kids to Elitch Gardens and the kids were so excited! Elitch Garden’s is an amusement park in Denver that also has a water park!! Since Lotus is pre-k, she gets a free pass (anyone can get a free pass under the age of 5) and Jeffery is free as well! Justin and I decided to buy season passes this year since it’s a way better deal than buying day passes!

We started at the water park. I honestly could not remember what there was to do at the water park since it had been about seven or eight years since I had been. They had quite a few water slides, a wave pool, a lazy river, and an awesome pirate ship the kids loved!

The pirate ship was actually one of the only things the kids could do. Neither of them were tall enough for the slides and the lazy river was closed (although I am pretty sure it opened after we left the water park). But that’s okay because they had a blast at this pirate ship!!

I honestly think they could have stayed there for the whole day!! Anything water, my kids love!

After some time in the water park, we headed to the amusement park to ride some rides!! Elitch Gardens has some pretty cool big rides, but my kids are both too short to ride them. Elitch’s does have a kiddie park though with rides, a play area, and even a mini coaster!!

They both loved to ride the trucks and the train!! Lotus gets a little freaked out by the rides so half the time we are convincing her to go on them!! She even gets freaked out about the carousel (really not sure where she gets it from!).

She did finally go on the motorcycles and I was shocked when she actually asked to go on them!

Also, I do not know why she insisted on wearing her hood all day long!! But whatever makes her happy!

Since it was about 90 degrees outside, we stopped to get the kids some ice cream before we headed out.

We spent a total of maybe two and a half hours at Eltich Gardens and had such a blast! These types of days make it so nice to have a season pass. I don’t have to feel guilty about leaving after only two hours and wasting a day pass. It’s always a great way to get out of the house and let the kids run off some energy!!

Until next time Elitchs!!
